Taliban will possibly open a new political office in Tashkent, the capital of neighboring Uzbekistan, a report said on Saturday.
Citing an official of High Peace Council, Did Press reported that the new office would hold peace talks with Afghan government and its western allies.
“The Taliban office in Doha will remain open as their new office will open in Tashkent as well as another office will be opened in Dubai for the group,” said Asadullah Barakzai, the deputy to the High Peace Council (HPC).
The meeting of US officials with Taliban’s political representatives in Doha has reportedly paved the way for establishment of new offices for Taliban and potential peace talks to put an end to the decades-long Afghan war.
Sources close to Taliban group confirmed the opening of two new offices for the group in Tashkent and Dubai, saying that “the office in Doha will be a training center, the Dubai office will be a communicating place and the political work of the group will be carried out in Tashkent office.”
It is worth mentioning that the Taliban group is busy consulting on opening new offices in Tashkent and Dubai, but has not announced their final decision yet.
