At least 28 people were killed, including 11 security forces, and 83 others, including 19 security personnel, wounded during 192 incidents of violence throughout the country on Saturday, an official said.
Interior Minister Wais Ahmad Barmak said most of the attacks conducted on polling stations. He said the voting process were successfully done because about 1,800 incidents had been expected to be happened but only 192 were occurred following the efforts of security forces.
He added more than 1,000 polling stations had been closed from the total of 21,000 and several others shut as a result of technical issues.
However, he termed the voting process at night as challengeable and it would get more challengeable in case of delay.
He said praised widely participation of people in the Wolesi Jirga elections and termed it as huge achievement of the government.
