Taliban militants abducted governor of Dara-i-Suf Bala district in northern Samangan province on Monday, the Interior Ministry said.
Mohammad Ali Hasani was abducted along with two of his guards in Chapchil area of Dara-i-Suf Payeen district around 11:00a.m., said Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry.
Separately, the insurgents killed eight members of people’s uprising force in an attack in Charkint district of Balkh on the same day. Five others were wounded in the attack, Rahimi said.
Meanwhile, a roadside bomb exploded in Nad Ali district of Helmand province on Monday morning, as a result of which three women were wounded, the official said.
The attacks come during the third day of a week-long reduction in violence negotiated between the United States and the Taliban, ahead of peace deal.
