Tajikistan and Afghanistan to create a joint security commission

Acting Foreign Minister Muhammad Hanif Atmar met on Friday with the Secretary of the Security Council of Tajikistan Nasrullo Mahmudzoda.

During the meeting, the foreign minister of the neighboring country praised Tajikistan’s support for Afghanistan’s positions in the peace process and negotiations with the Taliban, Acting Foreign Ministry reports.

In this regard, he called for cooperation between the two countries in the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking, and border security.

Secretary of the Security Council of Tajikistan Nasrullo Mahmudzoda stressed the importance of expanding bilateral efforts in the fight against terrorism and ensuring border security, and also expressed the readiness of the Tajik side to cooperate with Afghanistan in these areas.

The parties also discussed the extradition of prisoners, the creation of the Tajik-Afghan Commission for Security Cooperation and the development of an effective regional approach to combating terrorism.
