Six security force members were killed and several more were wounded in separate attacks and a blast in the western province of Herat since Wednesday night, local officials said on Thursday.
Herat governor Sayed Waheed Qatali said that four security force members were killed in Taliban attacks on Shindand, Obe and Pashtun Zarghon districts of the province on Wednesday night.
One of the incidents was a car bomb attack close to a National Directorate of Security (NDS) facility followed by clashes with security forces in which four security force members were killed and several others were wounded, he said.
“Taliban also suffered casualties in the attack,” Qatali said.
He also said that the Taliban attacked security outposts in Pashtun Zarghon and Obe but the attacks have been pushed back after reinforcements were deployed, he said, adding that “no security casualties were reported in these two attacks.”
Taliban has not yet commented on the attacks.
Meanwhile, two security force members were killed and another was wounded in a blast at a police outpost in Herat city on Thursday morning, Herat’s health officials said.
Noor Ahmad Haidari, provincial deputy governor confirmed the blast but did not provide details about casualties.
