At least 15 members of the public uprising forces and civilians were killed in a Taliban attack in western Ghor province on Friday night, a member of Ghor Provincial Council said on Saturday.
The clash started after a group of Taliban attacked some security outposts in Poshta Noor village in Dawlatyar district of Ghor, said Hamidullah Motahid, member of Ghor Provincial Council.
He said that Lal Bahadur Frotan, a tribal elder in the area, and two others were wounded in the attack.
Abdulhaqi Khatibi, spokesman for Ghor governor, confirmed the incident but said they have not received adequate information about the attack.
He said government forces have been sent to the area.
This comes as a senior Army commander Fawad Andarabi was killed in an operation in Ghor province last week as he was deployed there to ensure the security of Dawlatyar district.
