Seven people have been arrested amid investigation over alleged pedophile ring operating in some of schools in Afghanistan’s central Logar province, officials said.

Jamshed Rasooli, a spokesman for the Attorney General’s Office, said of the seven people arrested, two had already been referred for trial.

He said that arrest order for 11 others allegedly involved in the case had been issued.

The official said that so far there were no evidences suggesting involvement of education ministry’s personnel in the case.

In November last year, the Guardian newspaper reported that hundreds of boys from six schools in Logar province had been abused.
