BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) — Senior Chinese legislators met on Friday to study a speech delivered by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, at the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, and to study the spirit of the session.
The meeting of the leading Party members group of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee was presided over by Li Zhanshu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the NPC Standing Committee. Li delivered a speech at the meeting.
The plenary session, held in Beijing from Oct. 26 to 29, adopted the Party leadership’s proposals for formulating the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035, charting the course for China’s development in the next 15 years.
Since the fourth plenary session, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core has united and led the whole Party, the whole nation and people of all ethnic groups in coping with various risks and challenges and making new major achievements in the undertakings of the Party and the state, according to the meeting.
The legislators agreed to effectively carry out the tasks set and arrangements made at the fifth session, vowing to step up the study and implementation of Xi’s speech and the spirit of the session.
They vowed to do a good job in work related to the deliberation of the 14th Five-Year Plan at the fourth session of the 13th NPC, and to thoroughly carry out the NPC tasks and measures included in the proposals of the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting also stressed the role of lawmakers in hearing people’s voices and pooling wisdom and strength for work in the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Enditem
