Businessmen and food suppliers betray people by increasing the prices, said some Afghan senator on Sunday.
Senators asked the government to prevent increases in the food prices in Ramadan by having control on the market.
“The increase of food prices during Ramadan is worrying,” said Senator Gulali Akbari.
“There is no control over the market. Why prices jump in Ramadan? Who is responsible to save people from these problems,” said Senator Muhiuddin Munsif.
At the same time, the Chairman of the Senate House Fazel Hadi Muslimyar said that some merchants and sellers are waiting for Ramadan to raise the prices.
He said it is an oppression on the people and called on the municipality to monitor the market.
This comes as the food prices increase significantly during the month of Ramadan without any specific reason.
