Second positive polio case emerges in Kandahar

Another new polio case emerged in southern Kandahar province making it the second in 2019 in the province, an official said on Sunday.

Senior Health Official Dr. Abdul Shakour Nasrat told Pajhwok Afghan News fresh positive polio case surfaced in the Ghorak district where the Taliban had been preventing the vital drops to administer.

He said it was the second positive polio case for 2019 in the country and both cases emerged in Kandahar.

Earlier, the first positive polio case was emerged in the Spin Boldak district when a 22-month old Asia was found diagnosed with the dangerous virus.

According to Nasrat, next week the three days polio vaccine campaign would be implemented in Kandahar province, including the Ghorak district.
