The construction of the Panjshir-Badakhshan road, which is 210 kilometers long and 12 meters wide, is being carried out by the Panjshir Extraordinary Brigade.

The road will connect Badakhshan to the capital, Kabul, via Panjshir. According to the Engineering Director of the Panjshir Extraordinary Brigade, 70% of the road leveling and graveling work has been completed.

Naqibullah Farqani, the Engineering Director, stated: “The road will also extend to Jorm and Bark districts. God willing, work is ongoing and it will be completed soon.”

Meanwhile, residents of Badakhshan are calling on the interim government to make serious efforts to pave the road as well.

One resident of Badakhshan, Imamuddin, said: “In the past, people used to get stuck here and could not pass. Later, during previous governments, some roads were built. Now, thankfully, it is being properly constructed.”

Another resident, Hazrat Shah, said: “The route to our districts and province has already become shorter, but once the road is paved, many of our problems will be solved.”

Officials from the Panjshir Extraordinary Brigade say this road will serve as a good alternative to the Salang route and will shorten the distance between Badakhshan and Kabul by 231 kilometers.
