Riyadh ready for security cooperation with Kabul

Saudi Arabia on Sunday assured Afghanistan of security cooperation and strong political relations.
Saudi Ambassador to Afghanistan Jasem Mohammad Alkhaledi met National Security Advisor (NSA) Hanif Atmar and discussed security and political cooperation.
They conferred on expansion of bilateral ties and boosting economic and security cooperation, NSC spokesman Qadir Shah told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Alkhaledi expressed Riyadh’s readiness for cooperation in various fields, infrastructure development, improved trade ties and investments in Afghanistan.
He hailed a recent meeting among NSAs from Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, the United States and the United Arab Emirates. He voiced willingness for implementation of the decision taken at the quadrilateral talks.
Atmar said the expansion of ties with Saudi was a hopeful sign for all Afghans. He welcomed the oil-rich kingdom’s continued cooperation with Afghanistan in various fields.
Atmar termed the role of Saudi significant in the quadrilateral meeting and stressed implementation of the mechanism.

Separately, the Saudi envoy met a number of Afghans who would perform Hajj at the invitation of King Abdullah.
Alkhaledi called the expansion of economic relations with Afghanistan and pledged support for an Afghan-led reconciliation process.
