A group of retirees once again staged a protest today (Saturday, February 1), demanding the Islamic Emirate pay their pensions.

Gathering daily in front of the pension fund office, the protesters say they are facing severe economic hardships and urged the authorities to address their demands promptly.

According to them, more than one and a half months have passed since the issuance of a decree by the leadership of the Islamic Emirate, yet there has been no update on its implementation.

Abdul Khaliq, a representative of the retirees, told TOLOnews: “They told us to get a court ruling, and they would immediately start paying us. A commission has been formed, but it refuses to give us our rightful payments. If they won’t pay, they should at least tell us the reason.”

Bori-Qul Wahdat, another retiree, stated: “These people are patient and do not want to create chaos. All they are asking for is their rightful pension.”

Many retirees complain about serious financial difficulties.

Shah-Wazir, a retired worker, said: “These poor retirees are facing many problems. They are elderly, have families to support, and are struggling to get through the winter.”

Although the Islamic Emirate has not recently provided any updates on when pensions will be paid, its spokesperson previously stated that efforts are underway.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, said that the process requires time for legal and financial procedures to be completed by the courts and the Ministry of Finance.
