Qosh Tepa Canal Second Phase Excavation 87% Complete: NDC

The National Development Company (NDC) says that 87% of the excavation work for the second phase of the Qosh Tepa Canal has been completed, and the construction of the canal’s headworks has reached 75%.

According to the company’s officials, they are carrying out the canal’s construction in accordance with global engineering standards.

Nabiullah Arghandiwal, the spokesperson for the National Development Company, stated: “The work on the Qosh Tepa Canal is currently progressing rapidly and in line with global engineering standards in various sections. At present, 87% of the second phase of excavation has been completed, and the construction of the headworks has progressed to 75%.”

The Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock considers the construction of this canal a fundamental step toward Afghanistan’s self-sufficiency in agriculture.

 “The Qosh Tepa Canal has vast fertile lands, and if utilized properly, we can achieve self-sufficiency in wheat and rice production,” said Mirwais Haji Zada, deputy of the agriculture and livestock chamber.

Similarly, economic affairs expert Najibullah Siddiqi emphasized the importance of this project for the farmers in surrounding areas, stating: “Farmers around this canal are engaged in work, and they can be highly productive since the Qosh Tepa Canal has been constructed.”

According to information from the National Development Company, the construction of seven large bridges along the Qosh Tepa Canal is also underway, which will provide further facilities for farmers and residents of the region.
