The State of Qatar participated in a meeting of senior officials on Afghanistan, which was held on Tuesday at the European Union (EU) headquarters in Brussels.

The State of Qatar’s delegation to the meeting was headed by Faisal bin Abdullah Al Henzab, the special envoy of the minister of foreign affairs.

In a speech at the meeting, Al Henzab underlined that Qatar has been making various efforts to support the aspirations of the Afghan people to achieve security and stability, noting that this is evident in the mediation efforts that culminated in the signing of the Doha Peace Agreement in February 2020.

The envoy also affirmed that Qatar will continue these efforts through Doha’s hosting of meetings of special envoys concerned with Afghanistan that are called for by the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Al Henzab pointed out that the Doha platform provides an opportunity to move forward in implementing humanitarian programs and initiatives that provide aid, meet basic needs, and improve economic and social conditions for all Afghans.

The next Doha meeting is scheduled for later this month.
