Projects worth 829 million Afghanis approved

The National Procurement Commission (NPC) chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani approved contracts for twelve new projects worth 829 million Afghanis, the Office of the President, ARG Palace said.
According to a statement released by ARG Palace, some of the key contracts approved during the meeting include project for the printing work of 12.2 million books, construction of 4.95kms of road by the Independent Development Authority for Capital Zone, and paving of 285 acre of industrial park land in Mohammad Agha district of Logar province.
The other contracts approved during the meeting included transportation of 20 thousand metric tons of chemical fertilizers from Mazar-e-Sharif fertilizers factory to the provincial capitals and districts of 34 provinces, and design project for the construction of the new museum in Kabul by the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing.
The statement further added that the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum also shared information regarding Shahidai Copper Mine in Herat province. The meeting approved the recommendations and procurement related issues of the mine and it was decided that the project should be shared for further discussions during the cabinet of ministers meeting.

The meeting also approved the previous decisions regarding the construction of 23.7kms of road from Bamyan to Doshi, and recommendations for the establishment of construction laboratory by the Ministry of Public Works.
According to ARG Palace, the meeting was also attended by the representatives of the budget and national economic committees of the parliament, Afghanistan Transparency Watch Foundation, and representatives of SIGAR and NATO-led Resolute Support Mission.
