Presidential poll date to be announced on August 1

The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Sunday said the date of the Presidential vote would be announced in the next three days.
Deputy spokesman for IEC Mirza Mohammad Haqparast told Pajhwok Afghan News officials of the panel had held several meetings on next year’s presidential election.
He said: “The IEC has fixed the date which will be announced on Wednesday.” More arrangements and schedule for the election would be made later on, he added.
Earlier, President Ashraf Ghani and his CEO Abdullah had urged the panel to announce the date of the upcoming presidential election as soon as possible.
