President Ashraf Ghani says Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) diplomats and staff should be familiar with the country’s foreign policy and try to spruce up Afghanistan’s image in the world.
Assessing MoFA activities and reforms, Ghani held a meeting with the leadership of the ministry on Saturday evening at the Presidential Palace, his office said in a statement.
Acting Foreign Minister Idrees Zaman and his deputies briefed the president on their performance and reforms in the ministry.
After hearing their report, Ghani stressed implementation of reforms at the ministry. He said the basic criteria for working at MoFA were ability and efficiency.
Ghani suggested Afghanistan should be converted from a negative competition ground into a region of positive cooperation. He directed Afghan diplomats to clearly understand the interests of countries in the region.
