At least nine police were killed in a Taliban attack in northern Baghlan province on Monday night, a security source confirmed on Tuesday.
Also, three policemen are missing, the source added.
The Taliban attacked a police base in Khawja Alwan in Pul-e-Khumri, the center of Baghlan, according to the source.
There are reports that 16 policemen were killed in the attack, including commanders. The Baghlan police have not yet confirmed the casualties.
The base is on the Baghlan-Samangan highway.
The Taliban took responsibility for the attack and claimed they stole police weapons and vehicles.
