US Special Representative Zalmay Khalilzad has discussed the Afghanistan peace process with a top World Bank official.
The diplomat tweeted: “Participated in a good meeting chaired by the World Bank on what donors can do to arrive at and cement a peace agreement that allows for increase economic wellbeing and prosperity.”
With international support, he said, such a peace would promote self-reliance by developing internal resources, attracting investments and reducing security costs.
“Such a peace can also be a springboard for regional connectivity, development and economic integration. I was encouraged by what I heard. All Afghans across the country should be encouraged.”
