President Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday at the 5th Annual European Anit-Corruption Conference said that now is the time for peace and that the opportunity should be used but added that peace should be inclusive and national.

“There can be no peace day every day, but this is the time of peace because conditions have been provided and should be used extensively. If this opportunity is lost, it will be a huge responsibility,” Ghani said. “Peace must be inclusive and it should involve all parties.”

Ghani warned that going back is not acceptable to the nation and “we will only move forward”.

Ghani raised concerns over security forces causalities and said that this shows that the war price is very heavy, therefore, talks between government and the Taliban should happen.

“It is necessary that we should know the war price is clear and we don’t know then we cannot take necessary decisions clearly and with courage, and talks should take place between the government and the Taliban, because we are the two sides [of the war],” Ghani said.

Ghani also said that Afghanistan war aspects are complex but using the global experience is must.

Ghani said that the presidential elections will be held on time.

Referring to his recent visit to Islamabad, Ghani said: “We have opened a new chapter in our relations with Pakistan.”
