Panjshir’s Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock says the province has recorded a bumper walnut harvest this year thanks to good rains and support rendered to small farmers.
According to a statement issued by the department, a total of 241 metric tons of walnuts were collected from across the province. Last year, 217 metric tons were harvested.
Qari Fazlullah Dewobandi, the head of the department, said 212 hectares of land has been used to cultivate the nuts and that Panjshir provides the perfect weather conditions to cultivate walnut trees.
