The Pakistani military regime has once again exposed its true face to the world. The aerial attacks on rehabilitation hospitals for drug-dependent patients in Kabul and Kandahar, which resulted in the killing and injury of hundreds of innocent civilians, cannot be dismissed as a mere military error. Rather, these acts constitute a deliberate, brutal, and unmistakable crime against humanity—one that defies all moral, legal, and humanitarian standards.
The victims of these attacks were individuals undergoing treatment, striving to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society. They were not combatants, nor were they participants in any form of armed conflict. They were vulnerable human beings in need of care and protection. Targeting such facilities is, in essence, an assault on humanity itself. It represents a clear violation of international humanitarian law, including the fundamental principles designed to protect civilians and medical institutions during times of conflict.
The scale and intensity of these attacks are deeply alarming. Striking hospitals and defenseless patients crosses a red line that no justifiable cause can defend. Such actions are not only inhumane but reflect a systematic pattern of violence carried out with complete disregard for international norms and human dignity.
If the international community, human rights organizations, and global justice institutions remain silent in the face of such atrocities, that silence will only embolden further acts of violence. History has repeatedly shown that unchecked injustice paves the way for even greater tragedies. This moment, therefore, is a test of global conscience—a test of whether the world truly stands for justice, accountability, and the protection of human life.
We call upon the United Nations, international human rights bodies, and all defenders of justice to strongly condemn these heinous acts and take immediate steps to hold the perpetrators accountable. This case must be brought before international courts, including the International Criminal Court, to ensure that those responsible face justice and that the rights of the victims and their families are upheld.
The time for silence has passed. The blood of innocent people must not be sacrificed for political agendas. The world must take a firm and principled stand, demonstrating that crimes against humanity will not go unanswered. If justice is denied today, the consequences of that silence will be borne by all tomorrow.
