Online business has seen a “massive growth” in the country over the past three years despite some “hurdles” on the way of this sector, owners of online shopping centers said, adding that their sales increased by 10 times last year.

At least 100 online business companies are operating in Kabul.

“We have many branches in the city and we provide online services as well,” said Sayed Hasib Mirzada, owner of an online shopping center in Kabul.

According to businessmen, insecurity is the main challenge for online business owners as it impedes them to provide their services in every corner of Kabul and other provinces.

“It is hard to find addresses in Kabul due to lack of a proper nomenclature of the city. Insecurity has increased our problems,” said Masihullah Stanikzai, an employee of an online company in Kabul.

Hasibullah, an employee of an online company in Kabul, said he was recently wounded after he came under attack after some people who ordered goods online.

“I got an order from a customer in PD7 of Kabul city and when I delivered the order, six to seven people armed with knives attacked me and wanted to take my bike but I did not let them and they stabbed me on my leg and left the area,” said Hasibullah.
