A magnetic IED blast killed one civilian during rush hour in the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif in Balkh province on Saturday morning, a local official confirmed.
The explosive device was attached to a vehicle, according to Balkh governor’s spokesman Munir Ahmad Farhad.
He said three other civilians were wounded in the blast, which occurred in police district 10 (PD10) of Mazar-e-Sharif city.
A report issued on Friday by the Ministry of Interior claimed that up to 7,400 Afghan civilians were killed and wounded as a result of suicide attacks and explosions last year.
The report said 2,219 civilians were killed and 5,170 were wounded in 2019.
