A meeting of the National Procurement Commission was held under the leadership of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Economic Deputy of the Prime Minister’s Office.
According to the Economic Deputy’s Office, 21 projects with a total cost of approximately 18 billion Afghanis were amended and approved during the session, and 27 other projects were submitted for approval.
After discussions, 18 projects were amended, 3 were approved, and 3 were canceled. In addition, three other projects were referred to designated committees to negotiate pricing with the winning companies and report back to the commission’s leadership.
On another note, due to violations, the Afghan Kandamak company was banned from participating in projects for two years, and Rafi Khalid Trading Company was banned for six months. Despite initially agreeing to the set terms and winning two projects, these companies withdrew from implementation, causing delays in national project execution.
Some of the amended and approved projects include:
Part of the Qush-Tepa Canal
Shaflogh Dam in Chenartu District of Uruzgan Province
Phase one of the Nahr-e-Saraj Canal in Sangin District, Helmand Province
Second phase of the Kandahar–Spin Boldak Road
Equipment for electricity projects in various provinces
Provision of quality telecommunication and internet services in remote areas
It is noteworthy that the total cost of these projects amounts to approximately 18 billion Afghanis, funded by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
