The regular meeting of the National Procurement Commission, chaired by Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, took place today, January 27, 2026, at the Marmarin Palace. A total of 33 projects were presented for approval.
After discussions, 21 projects estimated at approximately AFN 2.5 billion were approved, with amendments introduced to seven projects.
Additionally, one project was referred for re-tendering through an open national bidding process, and another project was suspended due to previous performance deficiencies of the winning company.
A committee was appointed to conduct a comprehensive review of all existing contracts of the identified company and will submit its report to the leadership of the National Procurement Commission upon completion of the review.
Moreover, one project was returned to the relevant ministry due to procurement-related issues. Committees were tasked with reviewing the prices of two projects, negotiating with the winning companies, and submitting their reports to the Commission’s leadership.
The approved and amended projects include: Procurement of scanners for customs offices at the airports of Kabul, Herat, Nangarhar, Balkh, and Khost provinces. Rehabilitation of the public road from Gardez to Khost.Construction of police command headquarters buildings in Ghazni and Farah provinces. Detailed design and feasibility studies for the Sultan Ibrahim Dam’s irrigation system in Sar-e-Pul province. Electricity supply projects for the Sangcharak, Sozma Qala, and Gosfandi districts of Sar-e-Pul province. Construction of public hospitals in various districts: Qala-e-Zal (Kunduz), Garmsir (Helmand), Shinwari (Parwan), Parchaman (Farah), Lakan (Khost), Warsaj (Takhar), Alasay (Kapisa), Shakardara (Kabul), and Darayem (Badakhshan), Completion of remaining works for several electricity supply and distribution projects in various provinces
