The National Procurement Commission convened today under the leadership of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, to discuss various infrastructure projects aimed at boosting the country’s economy.
During the meeting, a total of 30 projects were presented for approval. After thorough deliberations, the Commission Greenlit 11 projects valued at over AFN 1.538 billion. In addition to these approvals, amendments were made to 15 other projects, reflecting the Commission’s commitment to careful oversight and strategic planning.
Key outcomes of the meeting included the termination of one project contract, the reconsideration of another, and the delegation of two projects to designated committees for comprehensive evaluations, with findings to be reported back to the Commission’s leadership.
Highlights of Approved Projects:The ninth reinforcement lot of Yatim Tapa in the Darqad District. Ghor Airport: Rehabilitation of the runway to improve accessibility.Kabul International Airport: Awarding of operation and maintenance contracts. Road Construction: Over 17 kilometers of the Dahn-e-Ghori road in Baghlan will be constructed.Zargarano–Gardez City Road: A crucial infrastructure project in Paktika.Mining Equipment: Procurement for the Northern Coal Enterprise to enhance resource extraction.Vehicles for Afghan Tour Enterprise: Essential vehicles to support state-owned services.Power Supply Projects: Construction and installation of substations from Qurbagh and Muqar to Shah Jui, along with materials for the power supply of Musahi District in Kabul.Barikab Substation: Surveying, design, and testing contracts for the 220-kilovolt Barikab Substation in the same province.
All approved projects are financed by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, signaling a focused effort to enhance infrastructure and promote economic growth in the region. The National Procurement Commission aims to ensure efficient implementation and monitoring of these vital projects for the benefit of the Afghan populace.
