The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) recently convened with officials from various development and humanitarian organizations to enhance operations, improve coordination, and promote balanced progress across the sector.
During this meeting, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, addressed the challenges faced by Afghans due to decades of conflict, which have hindered their access to a better quality of life. He emphasized that the time has come for partner organizations to pursue their activities freely and without fear.
Minister Mansoor underscored the necessity for stronger coordination between the ministry and partner organizations. He noted that the MRRD, supported by village councils in rural areas, is well-positioned to assess the needs of each region. Therefore, he urged partner organizations to collaborate fully with the ministry.
In response, representatives from various international and national organizations discussed the importance of closer coordination with the relevant Emirate authorities to effectively implement their initiatives. They shared their challenges, needs, and recommendations with the MRRD leadership.
Additionally, ministry officials provided updates on ongoing activities. In 2025, the MRRD completed 400 water supply projects across 137 districts, with a total expenditure of 837.7 million AFN. Currently, 600 water supply projects are under construction in 29 provinces.
