More than 50 shops burnt in Kabul blaze: Danish

Over 50 shops in the Melad Market turned to ashes as a result of a fire on Sunday morning, an official said on Sunday.

Najib Danish, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, told reporters here the reason behind the fire eruption was not known but investigation into the incident had been launched.

He said the fire began at second floor at around 6:30 and spread to the fourth floor of Milad Market.

He said over 50 shops had been burnt in the incident while some shopkeepers managed to evacuate the items in their shops.

He said police have arrested 10 robbers who tried to steal shops when everyone was busy to extinguish the fire.
