Military Casualties Increases In Helmand Province

Helmand provincial council claims Wednesday that in the past one week nearly 30 police soldiers killed in the province.

Hayatullah Mayar a provincial council member said that 18 policemen killed during airstrike and 11 others lost lives in terrorist attacks.

“Around 30 to 35 military personals killed in airstrike or other activities, and death of civilians or militaries are source of sorrow for Helmand residents,” said Mayar.

Residents in Helmand province said that government must come up with solutions to reduce the casualties of the military and civilians.

“People in Nawa said that about 11 police killed in the district,” said Attiqullah Chief of Social Council in Nawa district.

Helmand police accept military casualties, but they do not say anything about the exact number.

“Provincial council members count death and wounded both in casualties and the reason our casualties increased is that there was a misunderstanding in airstrike this week where police were targeted by mistake,” said Ihsamuddin Helmandi acting police chief for Helmand police.

Helmand police said that the reason behind the increase in military is increase in the Taliban’s attack and added that security forces foiled several Taliban attacks also.
