Maulana Sami ul Haq, chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, has been killed in an attack in Pakistan’s Rawalpindi city, Pakistan’s Geo News reported.
According to the report, Sami ul Haq was killed on Friday evening near a police station in Rawalpindi city. A member of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islaml Pakistan has confirmed Sami ul Haq’s assassination.
The report said gunmen riding on motorbikes opened fire on Sami ul Haq’s vehicle and as a result he was injured and then died.
However, other reports from Pakistan said Sami ul Haq was stabbed to death.
A security guard of Sami ul Haq also has sustained serious injury, the report said.
Sami ul Haq was known as the spiritual father of Taliban.
