Lukashenko Wins Belarus Presidential Election, Preliminary Results Show

The Central Election Commission of Belarus announced preliminary results on the morning of January 27, indicating that the incumbent president, Alexander Lukashenko, won the presidential election held on January 26 with 86.82% of the votes.

According to Belarusian law, the president is elected through a popular vote, and the candidate who secures more than 50% of the votes is directly declared the president. The Central Election Commission of Belarus is expected to release the final tally before February 5.
