Officials from the Khost Chamber of Commerce and Investment have announced that $11 million worth of dried fruits has been exported from the province this solar year.

According to officials, in addition to pine nuts, pistachios, and almonds, 17 other types of dried fruits were included in these exports.

Nawab Amirzai, head of the Khost Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said: “Total exports have reached 4,500 tons, showing a significant increase compared to previous years. However, we are still striving to make Afghanistan a major exporting country.”

Meanwhile, traders have called on officials to address their challenges.

“Tariffs should have a fixed schedule so that traders are informed of any changes in a timely manner,” said Shahbaz Gurbaz, one of the traders.

“Our trade transactions with Pakistan should be based on the principle of reciprocity,” another trader, Awal Khan Zadran, added.

Trader Nurgul Mangal also stated: “We urge the government to organize international exhibitions for us, especially in Arab countries, and to provide greater support to traders.”

Local officials in Khost say they are working to provide necessary facilities for traders.

“Exports have increased compared to previous years, and we are working to provide more facilities for traders to expand their businesses,” said Mustaghfir Gurbaz, spokesperson for the Khost governor.

This comes as the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan recently announced that in the past 10 months of this solar year, the country’s dried fruit exports have reached $350 million.
