The US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad will make his second visit to India for consultations on Afghan peace, starting from Monday, the Times of India said in a report on Monday.
Khalilzad is expected to brief Indian authorities about the progress made in the peace efforts in the past few months, the report said.
Last time Khalilzad visited India in January.
According to the report, Khalilzad is likely to meet India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale.
Khalilzad is leading efforts by the Trump administration to end the war by facilitating US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan and busy with the 6th round of direct talks with the Taliban in Doha.
