Former President Hamid Karzai has termed the ongoing conflict an occupation which according to him imposed by some countries in order to achieve their biggest targets, a statement from Karzai’s office said on Sunday.
The former president expressed the view in statement a copy of which received by Pajhwok Afghan News marking the 99th Independence Day.
“Ninety-nine years back our elders, fathers got their independence by the virtue of strong commitment, unity and intentions from the occupied forces,” he said.
“The current conflict in the country is indeed a imposed war hitched by occupied forces for reaching to their bigger targets,” said Karzai.
The former president asked for a Loy Jirga to ensure the freedom and independence of the country and protect it from being victim of interest of others.
“Let’s join hands and get our personal and national independence through arranging our traditional Loya Jirga and secure our country from becoming victim for the interest of others,” he said.
Karzai called on the Taliban to participate in the Loya Jirga alongside other portions of society and groups. It is worth mentioning that Karzai in the past had called for arranging Loya Jirga to get the country out of current crises.
