Officials at Kam Air have announced that flights between Kabul and Doha will begin in two weeks, on December 17.
According to the officials, this will be the first time direct flights from Kabul to Doha, the capital of Qatar, have been offered.
“We will soon connect Kabul to Doha, the center of Qatar, for the first time. Planning has been underway for some time, and we have considered three flights per week. Initially, we have planned for flights on Tuesdays, starting from December 17, God willing,” said Jahed Azimi, the Chief Executive Officer of Kam Air.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation stated that Afghanistan currently has direct flights to ten countries, and the initiation of direct and transit flights to Qatar will provide more convenience for passengers.
Previously, Ariana Airlines also operated flights from Afghanistan to Qatar.
“This is an alternative route that promotes competition and benefits passengers by providing another option. Recently, we signed a memorandum of understanding with Qatar, based on which direct flights between the two countries were initiated. Now Kam Air is starting its flights to Afghanistan,” said, Imamuddin Ahmadi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.
The Chamber of Commerce and Investment also sees the commencement of Kabul-Doha flights as impactful for transporting commercial goods and enhancing international trade.
“This route facilitates trade and transactions for traders, the private sector, and the people of Afghanistan. For those products of ours that have a market in Qatar, especially if cargo flights are initiated, it will be significant,” said Jan Agha Naveed, spokesperson for the Chamber of Commerce and Investment.
The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has also stated that it will facilitate Afghan airlines in expanding their flights to Qatar.
