Afghanistan Embassy in China has announced that the first meeting of the regional contact group on Afghanistan will be held in Kabul on Monday.
According to a statement released by the embassy on Friday, Asadullah Bilal Karimi, Afghanistan’s ambassador to China, met with Mao Ning, deputy director of department of Asian affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and discussed the Kabul meeting.
Karimi emphasized on more cooperation between participating countries in the upcoming meeting.
Both sides discussed economic, commercial and consular issues between Afghanistan and China.
Earlier, Russia’s presidential envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, said that Russia, China, Iran and Pakistan were preparing for a meeting on Afghanistan, which could take place by the end of this month.
Sayed Rasool Mousavi, General Director of South Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, has also said that Kabul will witness significant regional diplomatic activity.
He added that the presence of Afghanistan’s neighbors in the upcoming meeting underlines special attention to the peace, stability and well-being of the Afghan people and security in the region.
