Investment Boosts Country’s Electricity Sector

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs has announced a significant investment of over 8.2 billion Afs in the electricity sector over the past two months.

The funding will support various projects focused on electricity generation, distribution, and transmission across several provinces, including Balkh, Nangarhar, Herat, Laghman, Kandahar, and Zabul.

Key projects include:Solar Power Generation.40 MW in Balkh. 40 MW in Nangarhar. 5 MW in Herat. 10 MW in Laghman. Wind Power Generation. 43.2 MW in Herat, Infrastructure Developments, Construction of the Eastern Power Station in Kandahar, Reconstruction of the Qalat Power Station in Zabul, Extension of a 110 kV power line from Kajaki to Kandaha.

The initiatives, approved by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, aim to generate a total of 138.45 MW of electricity, benefiting approximately 100,000 households and numerous industrial facilities.

The government emphasizes that these projects are vital for improving energy access and supporting economic growth in the region.
