India on Tuesday banned entry to travelers coming from Afghanistan in an effort to contain the spread of coronavirus.

No flights shall take off from Afghanistan after 03:00p.m. (India time). The airline shall enforce this at the port of initial departure, according to a travel advisory.

The ban will be until March 31 and will be reviewed subsequently.

The ban is announced as Afghanistan has confirmed 22 cases of coronavirus in the country.

India has banned entry of travelers from EU countries, Turkey, UK, Philippines and Malaysia.
