Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate, met with Yu Xiaoyong, China’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan.
According to Bakhtar News Agency, the two sides discussed expanding bilateral ties between Afghanistan and China, recent regional developments, and Pakistan’s recent military violations of Afghanistan’s sovereignty.
Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister described the relationship with China in positive terms and expressed hope that both countries would further expand and implement cooperation across various sectors. He highlighted the Islamic Emirate’s position concerning Pakistan’s recent attacks on Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing that Afghanistan prioritizes peaceful resolution of conflicts and seeks to prevent escalation, while maintaining that defending its land and people remains a legitimate right.
China’s Special Envoy conveyed condolences on behalf of the Chinese government to the families of Afghans martyred in Pakistan’s recent attacks. He stressed China’s commitment to addressing ongoing issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan through dialogue and diplomacy, aiming to prevent escalation and maintain regional stability.
He also noted that China remains in close contact with Pakistan on this matter and is actively working to reduce tensions between the two neighbors while promoting productive bilateral ties.
