Coronavirus testing process has been postponed in western Herat province due to lack of kits since yesterday night, officials said on Wednesday.
Mohammad Rafiq Shirzai, spokesman for the provincial Public Health Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that coronavirus testing kits would arrive till the end of the day.
He said a UN airline would deliver the kits in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and another batch would be arriving in next five days to the province.
Dr. Abdul Hakim Tamana, Public Health Director, told Pajhwok they had run out of VTM, RNA extractor besides covid-19 testing kits in the province. He said only the WHO could provide the equipment.
On the other hand, the Public Health Department is complaining that no attention is paid to testing of suspected coronavirus patients in Herat province.
Only 25 of 75 COVID-19 suspects from Farah had been tested in Herat, officials said.
Afghanistan’s coronavirus tally has risen to 423 with the emergence of six new cases in Farah.
