The crash happened in an area between Herat’s Shindand distract and Farah’s Anar Dara district, said Noorul Haq Khaliqi, an army official. Head of Farah provincial council, Farid Bakhtawar, its member Jamila Amini and deputy commander of army’s 207th Corps, Nematullah Khalil, were among those onboard. Officials blamed bad weather for the disaster, however, Taliban claimed that the helicopter was shot down by the group’s fighters.
