Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar has said the peace talks between the US and the Taliban should be reconsidered as these talks are to yield any result.

In a message on the eve of Eidul Fitr, Hekmatyar felicitated the countrymen and women on the arrival of the religious festival and prayed for stability and end to the ongoing crisis and fighting in the country.

Hekmatyar termed foreign interference in internal affairs of the country, foreign invasion and some circles within the country serving foreign interests to reach power as the two main reasons behind the current crisis in the country.

He further said the oppressed people of Afghanistan were the victims of the imposed war underway from the past 40 years. National sovereignty, territorial integrity, religious and national values of the people of Afghanistan had been threatened and the government and system was being imposed by outsiders.

He said this fighting could end when internal and local elements behind it were removed and the Afghans were allowed to decide their future themselves without the meddling of foreigners.

He said friends, embassies and other foreigners interfered in internal matters about which government officials were silent and it showed such interference was allowed under agreement to undermine the will of the people of Afghanistan.
