Head of Chinese Embassy Awards Cash to Outstanding Students at Ceremony

The Chinese Embassy on Monday praised outstanding students of Kabul University by awarding them cash scholarships in a ceremony.

Zhao Xing, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Kabul, said during the event that the Chinese Embassy supports higher education in Afghanistan.

“The Chinese Embassy supports higher education in Afghanistan. As the head of Kabul University mentioned, we are committed to continuing our assistance in various sectors with Afghanistan,” Zhao Xing said.

Osama Aziz, the head of Kabul University, said in the award ceremony that strengthening higher education in the country is a fundamental need.

Osama Azizi also stated that based on an agreement with the Chinese University of Technology and Science, this university will cooperate with Kabul University not only in the field of literature but also in technology.

“The cooperation between the two universities in the field of science and technology, as well as in literature as before, will expand,” he added.

Mufti Mohammad Taher, the deputy of the Ministry of Higher Education, described the history of Afghanistan-China relations as good in the program and asked Beijing to expand its cooperation in various sectors, including higher education, with Afghanistan.

“China can cooperate with our scientific institutions in various fields, which we need in our scientific sectors,” said Mufti Mohammad Taher.

Meanwhile, some students of Kabul University asked the Islamic Emirate to facilitate education for girls in the country as well.

“I ask the officials of the Islamic Emirate to open the doors of universities to our sisters so that we can see them participating in such programs and meetings in the coming years,” Ramin, a student, told TOLOnews.

“My request of the Islamic Emirate is to open the doors of schools and universities to our sisters with the arrival of the new academic year so they also can participate in these meetings,” said Maiwand, a student.

In this program, sixty outstanding students of Kabul University for the year 1402 were awarded certificates and cash prizes.
