All traffic between Kabul and other provinces will be halted from 12:00 am Sunday night and only food convoys, health workers and coronavirus patients will be allowed to move, said Mohammad Yaqoub Haidari, the governor of Kabul province, as the number of positive of cases of COVID-19 reached 555 in the country.
Speaking at press conference with governors from neighboring provinces of Kabul, the governor of Kabul described the situation in Kabul as ‘catastrophic.’
He pledged tighter measures in Kabul to fight the coronavirus.
“the spread of coronavirus in Kabul has become a catastrophic situation,” said Mohammad Yaqoub Haidari, governor of Kabul province.
He said that 30 monitoring groups have also been created which have the responsibility of keeping track of the ways of fighting the virus, food prices and providing support to the people.
Meanwhile, governors from Parwan, Logar and Maidan Wardak provinces also pledged to tighten measures in their provinces in the wake of the spread of the coronavirus.
“We have directed our security forces to check all passengers on the highways to protect the people,” said Fazluddin Ayar, the governor of Parwan province.
23 out 34 provinces are currently dealing with the coronavirus.
“There is only one health center in the province–that is not sufficient,” said Muzaffaruddin Yamin, the governor of Maidan Wardak province.
