President Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday assessed the general security situation during his trip to central Kapisa province.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said Kapisa security officials briefed the president on the security situation in the province, as well as their achievements and the challenges they faced.
They said the security and defense forces had strong coordination with each other and were fighting against insurgent groups with a high moral in the province.
Ghani prayed for the soldiers martyred in Kapisa and directed the governor and military officials of the province not to spare any efforts in assisting their families.
The commander in chief appreciated the performance of local officials in the defense of their country and the operations they conducted successfully in Tagab district. He stressed the security forces be equipped in time.
Ghani also called for tackling carefully a possible truce with the Taliban. He directed Kapisa officials to work for improving security and coordination on public safety and preparations for upcoming elections.
