Former spy chief and presidential candidate Rahmatullah Nabil accuses President Ghani of financing his presidential bid from public funds.
Speaking at a gathering in northern Balkh province on Tuesday, Nabil said that the upcoming poll is an important opportunity, but the incumbent government was trying to challenge the gold chance.
Nabil claimed that the team in power was leaving no stone unturned to pave the ground for widespread fraud in the September 28 election in President Ghan’s favor.
“President Ghani has appointed some provincial governors in return for votes. He also awards government contracts to some specific firms on the condition to support him in the election,” the former NDS director said.
The money that is being spent in Ghan’s campaign has not come from any foreign source, but it’s the asset of the nation, Nabil stated.
The former spy chief also stressed that the details of talks between US interlocutors led by Khalilzad and Taliban representatives must be shared with the public.
