The United Nations officials warn that Gaza’s population now confronts catastrophic hunger, while the international community remains a passive observer.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres demanded Israel comply with international humanitarian law by permitting aid deliveries, revealing that only 50 aid trucks entered Gaza recently despite 400 being ready for dispatch at border crossings.
“As the occupying power, Israel must authorize humanitarian access and facilitate delivery of life-saving supplies,” Guterres emphasized during Tuesday’s emergency briefing. Current UN data shows hundreds of thousands in Gaza now experience acute food insecurity, with thousands of children at immediate risk of starvation-related mortality.
