A gambler has been killed and 65 others detained as a result of Special Forces operation in northern Balkh province, an official said on Sunday.
Police spokesman Sher Jan Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News the gamblers initially clashed with police in the Shadyan Darwaza area of Mazar-i-Shairf City, the provincial capital.
He said one gambler was killed, 65 others arrested and 10 vehicles and a weapon also seized by policemen. Durrani added the detainees would be handed over to judicial organs.
Baktash, a resident of Mazar-i-Sharif City, hailed security forces’ operation against criminals and said such raids could help decrease criminal cases.
